今晚，珠水欢腾，流光溢彩，我们在如诗如画的珠江河上，举行2005年广东国际旅游文化节闭幕式，用珠江的情怀表达南粤人民的热情与豪迈。在此，我谨代表广东国际旅游节广州主会场组委会、广州市人民政府向出席闭幕式的各位领导和嘉宾以及远道而来的朋友们表示热烈的欢迎和衷心的感谢。

首届广东国际旅游文化节是广大国内外旅游者的文化盛事。近几天来，南粤大地喜气洋洋，精彩纷呈。60项具有特色的旅游文化活动为国内外旅游者带来了一次岭南文化的盛会，展现了广东旅游文化活力四射的风采，弘扬了“兼容并蓄、开拓创新”的岭南文化的精髓，提升了“活力的广东、祥和的广东”的崭新的形象。

广东国际旅游文化节主会场在广州举办，是对我市文化建设的一次新的检阅、新的促进，丰富了全市人民的文化生活，提高了广州的知名度、美誉度和国际的影响力，促进了广州与泛珠江三角区域旅游交流与合作，吸引了世界的眼光。为广州、乃至广东走向世界，世界了解广州、了解广东发挥了重要作用。

同志们，朋友们，2005广东国际旅游文化节即将降下帷幕。我们将以这次盛会为动力，进一步推动广州旅游业和文化建设的新发展，同时，我们要按照省委、省政府提出的要求，把广州建设成为经济中心、文化名城、山水之都，带动全省、辐射华南，影响东南亚的现代化的大都市努力奋斗。

Good evening to you all!

On this exciting sleepless night, the Pearl River is rolling with happiness and flying colors. We gather here on the charming picturesque Pearl River to hold the closing ceremony of the 2005 Guangdong International Tourism and Culture Festival and express to the whole world the boundless enthusiasm and pride of the Guangdong people. Here, on behalf of the organizing committee of the main venue of the Guangdong International Tourism and Culture Festival in Guangzhou as well as the Guangzhou Municipal People’s Government, I would like to extend our warm welcome as well as sincere appreciation to leaders, guests and friends coming from afar for attending this ceremony.

The first Guangdong International Tourism and Culture Festival has been a grand cultural event for tourists home and abroad. In the past few days, the Cantonese soil has been enriched with happiness and all kinds of exciting activities. The 60 tourism and cultural events with distinctive features have brought a feast of Cantonese culture to tourists from other parts of China and overseas. They not only showcased the dynamism of Guangdong tourism and culture, but also promoted the core of the Cantonese culture, namely ‘open-mindedness and inclusiveness, pioneering and innovative spirits’, and enhanced the brand-new image of a happy and harmonious Guangdong.

The main venue of the Guangdong International Tourism and Culture Festival is set in the city of Guangzhou. This is a new inspection as well as a new stimulation of the cultural development in our city. This festival has enriched the cultural life of our citizens, enhanced Guangzhou’s fame, reputation and global influence, and strengthened regional tourism exchanges and cooperation between Guangzhou and the Pan Pearl River Delta. The festival has attracted attention worldwide and has played an important part in promoting Guangzhou as well as Guangdong at large to the world, and bettering the understanding of the rest of the world about Guangzhou and Guangdong.

Ladies and gentlemen, friends, the curtain of the 2005 Guangdong International Tourism and Culture Festival is now drawing down. We will take full advantage of this grand occasion to further accelerate a new round of development of tourism and culture in Guangzhou. We shall, in accordance with the task set by the CPC Provincial Committee and the Provincial Government, strive to build Guangzhou into an economic center, a city famous for its culture and with a pleasant landscape. We shall spare no efforts to build Guangzhou into a modern metropolis that takes the lead in the province, radiates South China and has influence in the whole Southeast Asian region.
